Our Philosophy

The functional training philosophy is pretty simple. We train the body the way it’s designed to move – as a fluid whole unit. We see movement as an intelligence to develop rather than a technique to simply get right or wrong. 

Humans are built to adapt. Unfortunately that means we can also learn bad habits. Our training system addresses your movement patterns and encourages a return to what is natural and efficient.

We believe a healthy body and mind has a balance of working out and working in. Imagine your body has a physical bank account. To have a healthy balance, we have to not only take withdrawals but also add some deposits. Therefore, training isn’t always exercise. 

We also understand how important a 3rd space is. 

A 3rd space is a space you go to that is yours. At home, people ask things of you, at work, people ask things of you but your 3rd space is yours. You get to focus on you. The funny thing is that by focusing on you, you get to give back to the others in your life 10 fold.

FITNESS & STRENGTH

We provide you with periodised programming through our Powerbuilding and conditioning classes. Our classes are set up so that we can coach a group of individuals rather than exercise a large group of people. 

Our programming is tailored to the individual and where they are at with their fitness and strength to ensure they are able to train with intent and recover intelligently.

MINDSET

People train the way they treat themselves. A healthy mindset is far more than simply having a positive outlook, it is about building resilience, understanding yourself on a deeper level and finding out what you’re truly capable of. 

We work with BSFT to offer programs for individuals to develop their Inner game and explore their potential. 

Nutrition

We work closely with Renaissance Periodization as well as offering educational webinars and support for clients to learn what they need to eat based on their goals and overall health.

We believe in having a community of contributors rather than a customer base who never show up. There is far more to health than a number on the scales and counting your macros. The people that you surround yourself with is absolutely paramount to your success. FUNC is a community of like minded people who support and give their energy to whoever is in the gym.
